Kiezkinder is a concept of Vanessa which she invented in 2010.
Kiezkinder are made of old fabrics, old clothes and random things which have their own history. In this concept Vanessa gives the material a new form and so she creates a new story. To complete the story she gives them a character which is written down by her typewriter. It`s in German because the typewriter doesn’t speak any English…
This concept was also used – in a modified way – in the project “Djangos fahrende Flickwerkstatt”.
In August 2012 puppet Django set off to explore Eastern Europe – escorted by a tailor, a photographer and a writer. The mission: to transform old things and thoughts. The result: A fantastic patchwork of stories, pictures and experiences. In every place that Django visited he found a new companian who helped him to prove the power of fantasy. Django’s journey is documented in a magic book and his experience will be presented at different events in Ruse, Bremen and Berlin. This project is one of the winners of the competition “kultur-im-dialog.moe 2012“ – a programme of the Schering-Stiftung and the association MitOst e.V.
